can be done... down fall is the 98 Car. You will need to almost rewire the entire car. The 88 Harnesses don't work on the 98 Cars. I always recommend getting the interior harnesses from a 94-95 V6 and Front end wiring. The Computer, Injector, Battery, Alt, and Tranny need to come from a 94-95 V8 car.

I usually am on the forum every day but right now i'm packing for a move to Colorado so its about every other day so please be paitient on my replies. Also there is some other threads of people doing this swap that will have some more information that will help you out also.

Thanks for joining.

That sounds a little more than i have time or want to do. What about taking the 5.0 out of the 88 and putting it into a 79 that has a straight six?

i would like to stay with fuel injection. But i was just thinking of leaving the 5.0 in the car it is in and slowly rebuilding/resoting it. It has some issues and being a convertible i wasn't sure if i wanted to restor/rebuil it. but what do i know i'm youg and dumb Smiley

totally up to you on what you want to do... if you do EFI with the 79 your still going to need to replace alot of wiring. Then on those its going to be getting wiring diagram books and researching. I've only done a few Fox Body swaps so alot research would be needed if you decide to go that way.

what's wrong with the 88? you know the body panels on the 79 will interchange with the 88 right? might be alot easier. 50resto sells alot of restoration parts.

also if you think swaping a 5.0l into a 98 mustang is to much of a pita, dont even think about a ranger. it requires alot more work.

how so? what all would i need from the 5.0? the body and suspension are just falling apart on the 88. it is just becoming a money hole to keep on the road. plus there is a short somewhere that drains the battery overnight.
